MAP Mission Statement
The NCA Museum + Archives Project is dedicated to preserving the rich and radical history of New College of Florida. From student publications and alumni artwork to protest flyers, thesis binders, and vintage dorm t-shirts, every contribution helps tell the multifaceted story of a truly unique institution.
By collecting, preserving, and organizing these materials, we’re building a hybrid archive (both digital and physical) that reflects the creative, intellectual, and political legacy of generations of Novos. Your donation helps ensure this history remains accessible to students, alumni, researchers, and advocates for years to come.
What You Can Donate
We currently accepting digital items to become part of this new collection, both for preservation and future online exhibits. We are also accepting pledges for physical items so that we can begin to estimate what kind of physical storage facility we will need in the future. Examples include:
DIGITAL items to donate: scanned issues of the Catalyst and/or Nimbus; photograph collections; scanned/photographed ephemera (fliers, zines, event programs); videos of events; audio recordings.
PHYSICAL items you might consider pledging for future donation: physical copies of the Catalyst and/or Nimbus; photograph collections;printed ephemera (fliers, zines, event programs); student or faculty art.
What to Expect
Respect and transparency: We use standard archival practices to properly document and label all contributions. You’ll be credited (where appropriate), and we’re happy to discuss privacy or usage limitations.
Preservation matters: We prioritize items at risk of being lost or damaged, and we use climate-controlled storage for accepted materials.
Digitization focus: Many donated items will become part of our public-facing digital archive (Phase 2), helping us make New College history accessible beyond Sarasota.
